Report a death
We need to know when anyone receiving a pension from the Scheme dies.
This could be a member, or a member’s spouse, civil partner, dependant, or children.
Telling us means you can start receiving benefits if you’re eligible to receive them. It also helps us to avoid overpaying a pension.

How benefits are paid
If you’re the spouse or civil partner of a member, we’ll pay you a pension each month for the rest of your life.
If you're the child of a member, you'll get a pension until you're
age 18, or age 23 if you're in full-time education. If you have a
disability, you may be able to receive a pension for longer.

How benefits are taxed
Pensions are taxed as income. Lump sums are usually tax-free.
Your total income includes your income from the Scheme plus any other income you receive – like a salary from a job, or profits from investments.
You’ll get an online payslip each month that explains how much pension you got and how much tax you paid.
We’ll post you a payslip if your monthly pension changes by £5 or more, or if you ask us to.
